Beeswax and Fabric Tutorial

I just wanted to share my Beeswax and Fabric Technique with those of you who expressed some interest in using this medium in your art work.

I know with some trial and error you’ll enjoy the technique and create beautiful pieces with beeswax and inkjet fabric photos!
What you do with your waxed images is up to you.

The process is relaxing, as the aroma is warm and inviting.

Vintage Pretty Days

So my latest venture is playing around with beeswax and of course fabric, trims, lace and jewelry using digital photography to capture the look of …
“pretty nostalgia” 
This image was printed on inkjet fabric sheets, set by heat and then beeswax! I love the old time feel of it.  The trims and bling also lend to the “prettiness” and look of  the overall composition of the photo.
I just love Pretty!

Do what makes you Happy!  Collect what makes your heart Smile! Be Creative… even if for an audience of one. Do You!

How very ethereal and nostalgic is this fabric image with Beeswax!?
I had no idea how the image would come out considering it was printed on fabric and not paper.  I am very pleased though with the way that it did.  I  like the composition of the digital image as well.  I believe I achieved the look of “pretty” that I was going for.

I have more images that I am working on.  As soon as I complete them I will post.

Isn’t it an awesome feeling to know how blessed you are? Sometimes we forget.  Especially when the world around us is so bleak. 
Outside of prayer, there isn’t much more that we can do about the ailing world, or the failing economy.  Some things are out of our hands.  We can’t stop a natural disaster from occurring.  Most times we can’t accurately predict one before it comes.  Let us therefore be servants one to another.  Let us help those in need.  Let us be humble.  Let us love our families unconditionally.  Let us be that shining light in this world that appears to be so filled with darkness.Let us remember how blessed we truly are…even during these terrible times…WE ARE STILL BLESSED! 
Remember to let your light so shine for all those to see. 
You never know, your light may be all the light needed to truly make a difference in someone’s life.

Vintage Jewelry Jackpot

Okay, so I have been on the hunt again for vintage jewelry.  I absolutely love scouting the web for broken jewelry pieces! Once again, I made a jackpot on Ebay as well as some of the local flea markets in my area.  No I don't have stock in Ebay..oh though I guess I should...smiles.  I was able to get quite a bit of broken rhinestone pieces in which I LOVE.  So if anyone ever wants to give me any rhinestone jewelry...I would be much inclined to say thank you without pause! I really love collecting these old pieces jewelry.

All of these pieces have some stones missing.  The clamps on most pieces are also missing.  I however, don't mind this one bit!  It's nice to include a piece or two on my collages.

Angel's...Wings

When I create my photo collages...I never know how they will turn out.  I don't plan the design ahead of time so I'm always waiting to be led... by my desire to complete them.
I ask within myself...
What direction should I take to create this piece and complete the layout?  

...and...
What will the piece speak to my heart when I'm done?  

Like I mentioned, I never quite know what to truly expect... so I try to expect well...the unexpected and that coupled with my earnest desire to complete the task... will produce the final result.
This way whatever the path I take...however I'm led to complete my project...I'm ok with it...and I know that there will be a finished and heartfelt piece that I can share with others...
if I listen to my heart and just go with the flow.

  

So my friends on your path of creativity...

don't get weary in your well doing...listen to your heart and just go with the flow!

Beauty is in the Eyes of the Beholder...

A few weeks ago I came across a few auctions on eBay that really caught my attention.  I was looking for antique folding cameras just to see them...no real intentions to buy...just look.  Well as I searched through the auctions I found several absolutely beautiful now antique...folding cameras...ooh lala!  I couldn't believe how beautiful they were.  Some were quite expensive and then there were some that well...just were not!  

"Beauty is truly in the eyes of the beholder," I thought to myself.  

Seriously, how could anyone part with such beautiful items?  

It was then that this epiphany hit me...

"Everyone may not see beauty the way I do!" 

Whoa, it's true...smiles.  

Maybe for some, the cameras represented just another part of history not really relevant anymore. 

"Hmm very possible." 

Maybe for others...no real beauty was/is seen in them at all...just another old camera.

One of the sellers told me he just didn't want it anymore.

"Ohhh...Okay."

I'd even venture to say that there are some who view these vintage cameras as simply "old junk..."

(Oh My!)

Well what I say to that one is..."Thank You!" 

"One man's junk is truly another woman's treasure!"

Maybe parting was Such Sweet Sorrow...

In which I totally get yah on that one...smiles.

So at any rate... I have to admit that after seeing these marvelous cameras...

 I began searching for the best price to buy one for myself...yes!..

Fulfilling one of my hearts desires...to own a vintage antique beautiful old folding camera of my very own!

Whew! 

Looking was over.  

Beauty won out and had to come home to me.

I was on a new mission....Buy a Camera!

I went through several listings before I came upon these three antiques! 

Two of the cameras are Kodaks and the other a Polaroid.

 I ended up paying $12.00 for the Polaroid, and about $14.00 each for the Kodaks!! 

Okay, I had to go back and verify the prices...

the Kodak Camera's were about $17.00 each not $14.00...my mistake. Smiles!

Non the less, I couldn't believe the prices and when the cameras arrived...

I couldn't believe the beauty!

All the bellows on each camera were/are in perfect condition.  

The shutters work and when pressed I can hear the cool clicking sound of the metals!

The bodies of the cameras are also in excellent condition...considering that they are now really old antiques.  I am completely excited about the opportunity to collect these beauties and add them to my collection of "Vintage..."

It's like unvieling a beautitful present...when closed it's concealed...

Then the big reveal when opened!

I Love It!

I must admire them now...and pass them on to my sons for later...

but until then for the beauty of it...I love the craftsmanship!
